So is it good to detox?….I think it depends on what your diet and lifestyle is like the majority of the time. Ideally you want to be clean eating more so than indulging on high sugar fatty foods but I know this isn’t the case for many people. So if you think you over-indulge eating and drinking more unhealthy than you should be then I would recommend detox-ing regularly yes.
If you are a super clean eater and drink 3-4 litres water each day, no alcohol, caffeine etc then I wouldn’t be as keen to recommend unless you feel stressed, tired and in need of an overall cleanse – a few days won’t hurt.
Some benefits of de-toxing include:
- Can strengthen your immune system
- Helps digestion and boost weight loss
- Good for your skin
- Gives you an energy boost
- Generally feeling happier in yourself
Excess toxins can basically build up in our bodies and be a lot to do with us feeling lethargic, sluggish and also be a factor that stops us dropping weight.
You have to be careful not to overdo the amount of times you detox or the length of each one as you can lose valuable nutrients too. So 2 – 4 times per year is amount I would do & for 5-7 days.
(If you have any medical conditions – always consult your doctor before following a new diet / cleanse).
Best de-tox foods are things like:
- Vegetables
- Fruit
- Wholegrains – oats, rice, quinoa
- Beans
- Nuts
- Seeds
- Drinks like cranberry juice, green tea, ginger & lemon water
Following specific Soup diets can be a good option if you need some structure.
In Conclusion…Is it good to detox?
After you have de-toxed for a week, you need to try to stay in the “clean” mindset. This is the perfect time to think “healthy active lifestyle” long term. I do not mean stay on a constant de-tox! But aim to eat healthy and balanced 85-90% of the time and get active if not already. This will keep you feeling energised and healthy.
Its all about mindset… http://b-strong-biz.stackstaging.com/mindset/
At the end of the day, we only get one body! Look after it.
If you fuel your body with rubbish, toxins build up and you are more at risk of illnesses and diseases. Just keep indulgent treats to a minimum.
