Ladies…want to know where to start in a gym & best workout?

My first blog post….

I thought I would start with giving you some information ladies…..so if you want to know where to start in a gym & what the best workout is then here you go.

People often see my results and more importantly, my client results and they often say, “Wow! I would love to look like you”. Or how they wish they could get results like…… They tell me they used to be 2 sizes smaller a few years ago. Unsure what has happened and why their body has changed as they got older. Eating is no different! Sound familiar?

My response to that is, there is no reason why you cannot get back to that if you really want.

A massive part of this is the belief from someone else telling them they can. Some people need guidance and motivation all the way keeping them on track. I think if its someone that’s not close to them too, they tend to feel more accountable.

So are you ready?

Is it time for you to get started?

Ladies, do you want to know where to start in a gym & which workout plan to follow?

Finding an experienced and knowledgeable PT is key….not necessarily for 1-1 sessions. I understand not everyone wants that. It could be that you come across a PT you like online and get coaching and advice that way. I have many online clients and many others that follow me for free tips and advice.

Whatever you choose, just link with someone who shows proven personal and client results. If you don’t have 100% belief in yourself right now, having this support from a mentor / coach can make a massive difference.

For a complete beginner or even a lady who hasn’t trained for a while, (maybe someone in their thirties…wanting to get back into it now the kids are in full time education). I would suggest to take it super easy the first couple of times to let your body get used to it. You will be using muscles you haven’t used for a long time!

Be prepared to ache! (Aching is good by the way)

So you want to know where to start in a gym?….

A Full Body Workout Program…….which will work your chest, back, arms, legs, shoulders and abs.

So you need basic exercises, maybe 1 or 2 per body part

Do 12-15 reps, completing 2 sets on each, keeping weight fairly light but really feeling it on last few

Include some cardio…..I would definitely be adding some cardio too, just start with one machine and maybe do 10 minutes. A steady pace at the start of your workout so it acts as a warm up too and then 5 minutes at the end as a cool down

No need to spend longer than necessary

A beginners workout routine should last about 45-50 minutes maximum. I would aim to go three times per week then add some quick 10 inute workouts in at home on the other days. Even if its simple hips, bums, tums or if you want to step it up then find a HIIT workout online you like.

Just get started!

Whatever your goal is…..weight loss / toning up / getting a flat stomach or a bigger bum! You just need to make a start!

Think about what your long term goal is & write it down!

If your long term goal is bigger…..for example training for a particular goal or sport. Or even if you have always dreamed of bodybuilding or figure competitions, just get started doing something consistently so exercising daily is just normal to you. Then as you progress you can find the right support and way forward in due course.

Most goals require you to get your metabolism working faster. This will increase lean muscle mass and result in fat burning which will im turn burn more calories even when not training.

Explore what classes are local to you….Crossfit, HIIT, Boxercise, Aerobic style. All these are excellent at getting quick results as long as you stay consistent and also have a well balanced diet.

I would definitely advise to join a gym as there is so much more you can do than just exercising at home. A variety of machines and dumbbells so you are not bored doing the same old thing at home and I think you tend to put in more effort in a gym (if you have a good plan to follow)

Its just a case of finding a place you are comfortable in…..there are many types now….some prefer ladies only? Look around your area to find one you like.

So ladies, I hope this has been useful to you and you now have a better idea of where to start in a gym and which type of workout plan to follow.
